THE STORY

A SMALL CREW FILMING A HORROR MOVIE.

That’s how it starts: scripted shots of a fictional movie, interspersed with behind-the-scenes found footage. What we, the audience, are seeing is an amalgamation of the two. A docufiction.

The crew is in on the experiment, at the behest of their eccentric director, Skyler. What they don’t know, is that something else is watching them. As members of the crew start to go missing, we see their every move being tracked by a series of hidden cameras. And whoever’s behind them, is not here to help.

AT THE CENTER OF THE MYSTERY IS JULIA,

a young actress, whose dreams portend the arrival of an ominous figure - an impossibly tall man, cloaked in black, with a Mirror for a face.

As everyone around her disappears, Julia begins to lose her grip on reality. Eventually, she’s left all alone, lost in the forest. There, she’s confronted by the manifestation of all her greatest fears: the Mirror Man.

AND THEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN.

Julia wakes up, back to the morning of the first disappearance. She’s not sure why or how, but she knows she has to stop the cycle from repeating itself. At every opportunity, Julia makes the opposite decision of what she did before.

But it’s no use. Julia finds herself going in circles, eventually ending up in the very same spot where she met the Mirror Man.

As it occurred in her dream, the figure crouches on all- fours, ready to charge. But then, something strange happens: the screen pauses and...

THE FILM STARTS TO REWIND.

Gray lines of static wave over the screen as we skip past everything that’s led us to this moment within the span of fifteen seconds.

Finally, the film stops rewinding. We’re back to the moment Julia woke up on the first day.

As Julia exits her tent, she’s horrified by the realization that she can’t escape. However, we, the audience, are struck by an even more terrifying revelation:

THIS IS NO LONGER A FOUND FOOTAGE MOVIE.

Everything we’re seeing now is being shot and presented to us in the manner and aesthetic of the film-within-the-film: the scripted horror movie within the docufiction.

JULIA IS NOW INSIDE THE MOVIE ITSELF.

AND THERE IS NO ESCAPE.

Round mirror on forest floor reflecting bare tree branches above, surrounded by fallen leaves.
Reflective surface on grass showing a silhouette of a person standing
Silhouetted figure in a forest at night, with bright white light creating a stark contrast, surrounded by trees and a dark sky.
Black and white image of a person holding a large mirror in a grassy field, reflecting the scene infinitely.
Person wearing a long white coat and lace dress partially obscured by tree leaves in a shaded outdoor setting.
Silhouette of a person with long hair standing on a watery landscape, next to a tree, with their reflection on the water. The scene is monochromatic, creating an artistic and mirrored effect.
